Eco-friendly Straws

PLA (polylactic acid), is a biodegradable material derived from a renewable resource mainly corn starch or sugar cane. Although it resembles plastic and gives the same rigidity, it meets all the eco criteria demanded in a changing world.

MAIN CHARACTERISTICS ARE:

  • Why:
The straws are certified biodegradable, compostable and recyclable. When it breaks down it gives off CO2 by merely expelling carbon locked in by the plant matter when originally grown.

  • Shelf life:
More than 2 years. Store in a cool & dry place. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.

  • Degradation period:
In commercial composters it should break down in 30-45 days. In the ocean the break down will depend on temperature, PH level and micro organisms.
